👀 Match Point? Whatever. Victoria Mboko saves a match point and rallies past #5 seed Mirra Andreeva, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6⁵, to reach the Doha quarterfinals. The Canadian has now won 13 of her last 14 three-set matches and faces Australian Open champ Elena Rybakina on Thursday.

🔥 Rybakina's on a Roll Speaking of Elena Rybakina, the #2 seed wins 5 straight points in a nailbiter of a final game, closing out Zheng Qinwen, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, in Doha. The victory extends the Kazakh's win streak to 9 matches, winning 16 of her last 17 matches dating back to the WTA Finals. Before today, only Karolina Muchova and Aryna Sabalenka have taken a set off her this year.

🎯 Back in Buenos Aires Joao Fonseca arrives at the Argentina Open to defend his first ATP title with a clear head and balanced expectations. Fonseca admits last year's Rio Open loss a week after winning Buenos Aires taught him a hard lesson about handling expectations. He faces Alejandro Tabilo in the 2nd round late Wednesday.

👴 We Have to Stan Stan Wawrinka's farewell tour rolls through Rotterdam with a 6-3, 6-4 win over 17yo Dutch lucky loser Thijs Boogaard. The 23-year, 3-month age gap between them is the 2nd-largest in ATP history, behind only Dominic Thiem's 2011 win over Thomas Muster. The 3-time slam champion faces top seed Alex de Minaur next.

💔 Gauff Feels Off Coco Gauff admits to a mental block after falling to lucky loser Elisabetta Cocciaretto, 6-4, 6-2, in Doha, saying her progress in practice has not been translating to the court. Gauff finishes with 39 unforced errors as she walks away winless in Qatar for the third year in a row.

😤 Oh Balls! The Head Tour XT ball is under fire at the Rotterdam Open as Daniil Medvedev rails against the balls during his 7-6⁵, 3-6, 6-3 loss to Ugo Humbert, complaining to the supervisor they're "not round." Top seed Alex de Minaur backs him up, calling them "a very dead ball" that favors big hitters. Arthur Fils calls for the ATP to intervene: "It is not normal to play with these balls at our level."

🎾 Extended Warm Up Iga Swiatek ascribes her slow to start against Daria Kasatkina to cold conditions and wind, rallying for the 5-7, 6-1, 6-1, win. (Though, "cold" feels like a relative term in Doha, Qatar. 🤔) Still, Swiatek improves to 7-1 lifetime against Kasatkina and reaches a Doha quarterfinal for the 5th time.

🏆 599 + 1 Marin Cilic reaches 600 career wins with an upset of #6 seed Learner Tien, 7-5, 7-6⁴, in Dallas. (Fellow Croatian Goran Ivanisevic famously finished his career on 599. So, there's that!) Cilic, 37, faces American Ethan Quinn in the 2nd round.

🚨 Serena Stays Making Headlines Serena Williams is officially eligible to return to professional tennis starting February 22, per Ben Rothenberg of Bounces. The ITIA clears the 23-time slam champion after she reenters the anti-doping testing pool. The news lands days after Williams stars in a Super Bowl LX commercial for GLP-1 provider Ro, sharing she's down 34 pounds.

🖤 A Sad Farewell Tennis journalist Mark Hodgkinson passes away at the age of 46. The former Daily Telegraph tennis correspondent covered the Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and Serena Williams era from 2005 to 2011. His Djokovic biography, Searching for Novak, won International Sports Book of the Year in 2025. He is survived by his partner Amy and daughters Molly and Rosie.
