🏆 OMG, Canada! Victoria Mboko scores her second career victory over reigning Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, in Doha. The 19yo Canadian now sits one win from cracking the top 10. And, even if she loses, Mboko can STILL make her debut as long as Karolina Muchova doesn't take the title.

📉 The Ol' Uno Reverse Card The last 109 times Iga Swiatek won the 1st set, she won the match. Until today! Maria Sakkari surprises the former #1, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5, to reach the Doha semifinals. The match includes a double-bounce video review controversy when Sakkari is serving for it at 5-3.

💔 One and Done Joao Fonseca falls to Alejandro Tabilo, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, as defending champion in Buenos Aires. The 19yo is now winless on tour in 2026 after a Brisbane withdrawal, Adelaide withdrawal, and 1st-round exit at the Australian Open. He heads to Rio next week for the ATP 500 event at home.

🔥 Lowkey King of Clay Luciano Darderi dispatches Tomas Barrios Vera, 6-1, 6-3, in 82 minutes to open his Buenos Aires campaign. The Italian is now on a 15-match clay winning streak with back-to-back-to-back titles in Bastad, Umag, and a Challenger trophy in Genoa. At a career-high #22, Darderi could crack the Top 20 with a title this week.

🏥 Playing with Pain Taylor Fritz advances to the Dallas quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Brandon Nakashima. But, the wins have not come easy for the top seed who's currently managing knee tendonitis with an intensive daily rehab protocol. Fritz says the condition actually worsens with inactivity, so he's playing through it per doctor's orders. (Or, maybe, trainer's orders?)

📺 Everybody Watches Women's Tennis Especially Jelena Ostapenko, who delayed her post-match press conference to watch the end of the Maria Sakkari-Iga Swiatek match on a nearby TV. Ostapenko now owns 24 wins in Doha, more than any player in tournament history, and faces Mboko on Friday for a spot in her 3rd Doha final.

🎾 Going Dutch Alex de Minaur cruises past Stan Wawrinka, 6-4, 6-2, to reach the Rotterdam quarterfinals for a 5th consecutive year, tying Roger Federer's record at the event. The Aussie now has 50 wins at ATP 500 events since the start of 2023 and faces Botic van de Zandschulp for a spot in the semis.

⚡ Feelin' Froggy After coming through qualifying, Jack Pinnington Jones has had the week of his career in Dallas. The Briton follows up his win over Flavio Cobolli with a 7-6⁵, 4-6, 7-6⁴ win over Eliot Spizzirri to reach his first ATP quarterfinal. A former star at TCU, the Briton will have plenty of Horned Frogs supporting him in the stands. (Horned Frogs are the TCU mascot. I know. It's weird.)

⚖️ Justice for Vilas Mats Wilander tells CLAY magazine that the ATP must recognize Guillermo Vilas as a former world #1 before it's too late. The Swede calls the ongoing omission "a greater injustice" with every passing day as the Argentine battles a progressive neurodegenerative condition. Researcher Eduardo Puppo's data shows Vilas should have held #1 for seven weeks in the mid-1970s. The WTA corrected a similar omission for Evonne Goolagong in 2007. The ATP still refuses.
