⚔️ Fonseca Holds His Own Jannik Sinner survives a two-hour grind against João Fonseca, 7-6⁶, 7-6⁴, advancing to the Indian Wells quarterfinal despite a match that could have gone either way. The 18yo Brazilian held three set points in the 1st-set tiebreak and rallied from 2-5 in the 2nd before forcing a 2nd tiebreak. It is Fonseca's first Masters 1000 4th round, and Sinner's admiration for the teenager is immediate.

🌟 Northern Lights Victoria Mboko dispatches Amanda Anisimova, 6-4, 6-1, in 73 minutes to become the 4th Canadian woman ever to reach the Indian Wells quarterfinal. The 19yo #10 seed converts all 4 break point chances and leads the tour with 40 WTA 1000 break points converted this season. The last Canadian woman to reach this stage was Bianca Andreescu in 2019, who won the title. Her opponent Thursday: #1 seed Aryna Sabalenka.

👀 The Coach's Kid Learner Tien saves two match points in the 3rd set finale to outlast Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6⁴, at Indian Wells. 🌟 Desert Dreamers Three stories worth tracking at the Arizona Tennis Classic in Phoenix: Darwin Blanch, 18yo wildcard, takes out world #52 Terence Atmane for the biggest win of his career. Blaise Bicknell, who dipped to world #1054 after hip surgery, fights back through qualifying and is one win from pushing inside the top 400. And Kamil Majchrzak drove directly from Indian Wells three days after taking a set off Novak Djokovic to open in the desert Thursday.

🏆 Tasmania Calling A little lower in the rankings, Lizette Cabrera defends her Launceston International title on the Australian Pro Tour, outlasting Yuan Chengyiyi, 3-6, 7-6⁶, 6-2. Cabrera also won the Burnie International the week prior, a sweep she is calling the "Tasmanian double," a first in the event's history. The 28yo Australian now holds 10 career Pro Tour titles.
